THE BRIEF
Brooks Molds is a family owned and operated business that expanded from making bowl molds to manufacturing molds for different house appliances, wall panels, shower niches etc. We want a logo that better represents us and what we make, and is harmonized with the current branding, which already had a lot of traction in the market. So we'd need to stick to the current colors, but introduce a new font and icon for Brooks Molds.
THE SOLUTION
One of the requirements of the brief was that the icon should be more representative than the current one. It was very tempting to include the process of molding into the logo by depicting a liquid being poured into a mold, but the icon always ended up too busy to be versatile. The form of a mold in the logo represents the work they do quite literally. I managed to find an abstract socket shape for the appliance molds they make and fit it into a stylized version of the letter B.
